Merry Christmas!
Welcome to the last newsletter of the year. We trust that you all have had a really good and productive year and are on target to wind down for the festive season and some time off.
The year has been very interesting for us especially with all the changes surrounding the postal changes in New Zealand.
We have also released the new Online Charge Module. The Online Charge Module is truly a must-have module for any organisation processing credit card transactions as it allows transactions to be processed and charged via Fundraiser in a secure environment.
Online Charge Module
One of our biggest challenges during the development of the Online Charge Module was not only to find a reliable, secure and robust gateway provider, but one whose infrastructure could support all of our clients in New Zealand and internationally. DPS (Direct Payment Solutions) was the provider that really stood out from the rest and one that had the capacity to meet Infosoft’s requirements, and so a partnership was formed.
Fundraiser’s Online Charge Module adds significant value and features to the Fundraiser Suite, one being credit card transactions are securely processed and charged on the fly eliminating any double handling and freeing up your staff's time to do more important tasks. Another is that credit card details are never stored in Fundraiser’s database meaning that Fundraiser does not require PCI certification, therefore neither do you if you dont store credit card details in any other electronic format.
Below are some key points and advantages in using the Online Charge Module:
- Credit card payments are processed and charged on the spot eliminating any double handling of information.
- Credit card numbers are not stored in Fundraiser thus minimising credit card fraud.
- Recurring gifts can also be scheduled and processed on the spot, allowing only the authorised transactions to be added into Fundraiser.
- No tedious file uploads or manual data entry. All data is processed from Fundraiser and transmitted using a secure internet connection to DPS.
- Certified with banks in Australia, New Zealand, Pacific Islands, Singapore, South Africa, Malaysia, USA and the United Kingdom.
- DPS’ data centre is PCI DSS certified at processor level, giving you peace of mind that your valuable donor credit card information is safe.
PCI Compliance
In 2004 MasterCard created the Payment Card Industry Data Security Standard (PCI DSS) which was then accepted as the standard by the four major credit card companies, American Express, Discover, Visa and MasterCard.
This standard was introduced to reduce credit card fraud, and through compliance and validation protect vendors, employees, employers and consumers from suffering financial loss as a result of unprotected networks. This means all companies who process, store or transmit credit card data are required to comply with the PCI DSS standard.
It is the introduction of this new standard that has prompted Infosoft to develop its Online Module. Some of our customers have asked us to complete lengthy documentation so they can get PCI certified. This process can be avoided in most cases, however if you feel that your Organisation could benefit from a full and proper audit, we encourage you to speak with a Wellington company called Confide.
Confide understands that security is a mindset rather than a technology suite. They take a pragmatic approach to PCI DSS assessment and work with their clients to help them achieve compliance.
Being a locally owned and operated Qualified Security Assessor, Confide understand the local business and technology markets. They believe in 'Appropriate Security Practice' to ensure achievable, relevant and manageable solutions secure your business against current and ongoing threats.
